  Reason: The reason the liquid stays on the nickel is due to surface tension. The bubble will continue to expand, but stay on the nickel, until it is too big to remain on the nickel and the liquid begins to run down the side. This breaks the surface tension, causing the bubble to collapse and the liquid is released.
