  I did take the time to read MRREF comment. The BAALL IS DEAD once it breaks the plane of the goal line. Running it out or spiking the ball has no bearing on the play, the ball is dead. read the rule book, case book and rule book illustraited/

  NO WAY! In High school football, during a field goal attempt, if the ball breaks the plane of the goal line it is a dead bll and it comes out to the 20 yard line. By Rule. I am a 39 year highschool referee NFHS/CIF/ IHSAA

  Announcer said the ball was fielded in the end zone. If so by high school rules, the ball is dead when it breaks the plane of the end zone. If caught in the field of play, it is just like a punt and can be returned. When player spiked it in the field, it was a fumble and could be advanced by opponent. Tough break, kid should have taken a knee

  Football is slow, boring, and silly. Basketball is much better and actually requires athletic ability. As you can see football players are not the smartest group of athletes either.
