When you are driving a car, a cop has the right to ask for your driver's license, to make sure you HAVE ONE. When you are walking the streets, you don't have to have ID, but the police do have the right to detain you until they can ascertain your identity. This kid is an idiot, and if he kept up that attitude much longer than the camera was rolling, he likely went to jail.

@what-a-dipshitNot true. They can't just pull you over for no reason at all. And also the cop was wrong that you must present identification upon request by a peace officer. You aren't under obligation to present ID in most states if you are not suspected of criminal activity. The kid was right. Even a police officer noted this in comments below.

well there goes the possibility of a warning. all the officer needed was reasonable suspicion. that kid being a jacka** could have just tipped the scales, along with all the other facts of the stop, towards probable cause for arrest. by the way: People v. Loudermilk 1987 Cal. app. 3d 996 4a] We see no constitutional proscription AGAINST asking a Terry suspect (traffic stops are Terry Stops) to identify himself. Inquiries of the suspect's identity, address and his reason for being in the area are

I'm a police officer and this cop is completely stupid. He should have let him go after he realized he didn't have a reason to stop him.. At the same time this same exact thing has been said to me when i have a completely valid reason to stop them. In ANY state when an officer tell you once what you did wrong and you fail to provide identification on who you are.. You will not be going anywhere and if it escalates to you getting dragged out of the vehicle just because of a tag light out then so be it.

@buckyblevinsCompletely true. I'm not a cop, but I've been pulled over, and he asked me for all that, I cooperated and waited, and he when he got back, when i asked him why i was being pulled over the only thing he had me on was a license plate light out. Silly, tho being a pretty girl, I really think that's the only reason he pulled me over cause he hesitated to answer the first time I asked and didn't tell me til he checked my stuff. Luckily he let me go with a warning. Some cops really are pigs tho...

in Texas "reasonable suspicion" to pull someone over can be as simple as going 1 mile an hour over the speed limit. its used to find bigger violations.

I like how the police officer said that he was pulled over for having an expired registration but when the the driver said expired registration in a form of a question the cop looked in the car saw the camera and didn't want to repeat himself knowing that he was being recorded and that he lied on camera. Haha. Well folks that happens way to often. I should know. I was once a cop. haha

so did he know the law, or did he act like an ass on film. did the camera stop just before the arrest?

This is stupid. The officer made a mistake and the kid was right; however, you're wasting your time and the officer's time by arguing about it. It'll take 2 minutes for the officer to go through the motions of saying "Okay, you're good. Drive safe." Now they're probably going to have 30 minutes of stubborn argument which is likely to end in the teenager tripping up and actually getting into trouble.

ok just to clear things up, im matt, from the beginning, when i say "my names matt and this is bradley and hes getting pulled over" thats my brother getting pulled over. this is not fake. the officer who pulls him over is officer whitney , #4333. and just so things are clear, my brother was not taken to jail, or beaten, or anything like that. the cop called for back up because he didnt know what to do. the back up officer came and asked him to get out of the car. they tried to obtain an i.d and failed, bec

@octopusmattyou kids are so dumb! he told you at the beginning why he pulled you over and in the state of Texas you can be arrested for failure to id. yes even if you are just walking down the road if a cop ask for Id and you don't have it or refuse to show it you can be locked up. get your facts straight punk ass stoners!

okay everyone. i am the guy who made this video, im matt from the beginning.... "my names matt" that is my brother bradley. JUST TO CLEAR THINGS UP..... after the video stops, he is asked to get out of the car. the cop called for back up. they asked for his identification even more, and he refused. they ended up letting him go because they had no reason to pull him over in the first place, and he got both badge numbers, and both cops have been reported...
