@aquahollicEnoughwithitall, first this guy is obviously joking, second if you are going to try and correct someone at least be right when you do it. This does not happen from draining gas out of the tank. It was a demonstration of atmospheric pressure. They heated the tank allowing the expanding air to eascape, seal the tank, and then rapidly cooled it causing the air inside to condense and the outside pressure to crush it. Pretty obvious it was a demo too since there were plenty of people lined up around it to wa

They used steam...: They had filled the vessel with steam, equilized the pressure while still hot.. then sealed it off. In the rain, and rapid cooling at the steam condenses, lowering the pressure, then when the vessel can't take the pressure anymore... BAM! Implosion. Did something sumular with a 55gallon drum, an outdoor boiler, and water. I let out a chuckle as that drum imploded.

@BrongaarEnoughwithitall said: "Haha your an idiot... the description says it didnt get enough ventilation... They didnt put steam in it idiot... They were draining it and didnt have the vent cap loose enough... " You're the idiot dude. First of all, your grammar is pathetic, and secondly, your logic is lacking. If this were an accident caused by carelessness, why would there be a camera standing by with a crowd of people? If it wasn't a staged production, why isn't that particular rail car attached to any others?

    • NathanWalker

      NathanWalker - a year ago

@BrongaarIt's the same principal as the experiment with steam. Simply put, the liquid pumped out of the tanker created a vacuum which was powerful enough to compromise the integrity of the tank.

god you guys are stupid: can't you see hose running up to each one. They used vacuum to empty the tank and once it reached its structural failing point the air pressure outside suddenly collapsed it. Its working kinda the like the hose running your brains right now.

@obenschnitzelnot fake: and to Mr. Tideman, why wouldnt it bend the train car, thats alot of fecking pressure bolted to it, of course it will bend

    • Mr_Tideman

      Mr_Tideman - 3 years ago

@obenschnitzelAlso, anybody standing that close is an idiot: With forces that large, things are going to break loose. I wouldn't stand there.

    • MassiveFail

      MassiveFail - 3 years ago

@obenschnitzellol... Fake? No very simple physics.: Lol. This isnt complicated. All they had to do was suck the air out creating a lower pressure on the inside of the tank. With a low pressure on the inside the HUGE amount of atmospheric pressure on the outside of the tank could crush/force a tank such as this one to "implode". You dont believe me try it yourself. Hook a large metal drum (like an old school 5 gallon oil drum) up to a vacum. This is the same principle just on a large scale.

    • canadasuxs

      canadasuxs - 3 years ago

@obenschnitzelMassivefail: I did not relize that 14.7 PSI is a "Huge amount of atmospheric pressure".

    • MassiveFail

      MassiveFail - 3 years ago

@obenschnitzelCanadasuxs...: Canadasux... I meant that the different is huge between the atmospheric pressure and the pressure inside the tank. Meanng relative to the low pressure inside the tank the outside atmospheric pressure would be much larger. As well if you knew what you were talking about you'd know that atmospheric pressure not measured in psi. Its measured in Pascals. Which is ths SI units for pressure. So if you really knew what you were talking about and understood how this entire system funtionned you'd ob

    • redcell66

      redcell66 - 3 years ago

@obenschnitzelhey massive: atmos. press. is measured in psi, but its psiG (guage press.) which is equal to 14.73 psiA (absolute press.). thats why we can zero a DP transmitter by referencing it to atmos. press., think about it.

    • DarwinsNitemare

      DarwinsNitemare - 3 years ago

@obenschnitzelyou guys are all noobs: pressure is measured in many ways, psi and pascals are only 2. there's also mm of mercury and some others too, im sure

    • MassiveFail

      MassiveFail - 3 years ago

@obenschnitzel.: lol Yes pressure is measured in many ways. But to know and the calculate any data about this system you do not speak of pressures in terms of psi, atm. or mmHg you would be using the SI units of Pascals. of course any of these are converted quite easily to one another. However I was merely pointing out to someone who seems quite uneducated how dumb they might enjoy being knowledgable before they talk about things they don't truly comprehend.

      enoughwithitall - a year ago

@obenschnitzelI hate you people calling videos and pics fake and that you can see how they did it... Why dont you just take it as it is and shut up, So if I took a video of punching you in the face, could you see the fake?? Derrrrr

Video is faked: It is very possible to collapse a pressure vessel of that size by sucking the air out or by filling it with steam, capping it off, and then letting it cool. Just one problem with this video: collapse of the pressure vessel would not bend the train car like that.

    • Nozzout

      Nozzout - 3 years ago

@Mr_Tidemanexcept: that the tank-thing does weigh a certain amount and when it hits the car the way it did... yeah.

    • Mr_Tideman

      Mr_Tideman - 3 years ago

@Mr_TidemanYou won't get that kind of bending force from an implosion: At the end, the car looks like a huge weight was dropped on the center of it. Somebody did that to a scale model, not a full train car. I would've expected a bigger sound, too.

    • XXXthedude420XXX

      XXXthedude420XXX - 3 years ago

@Mr_Tidemanhaha,: i love how when stuff like this comes up, everyone suddenly decides they are engineers and physicists. like rosie odonnel with 9/11 "that was the first time a building fire melted steel!" lol.
