.: it wasnt a bad grip at all, putting your thumbs back in actually better then gripping it normally becuase benching isnt only your chest, its your chest shoulders and triceps and when you put your thumbs back it helps to isolate the triceps which makes them stronger and helps you to bench more, if anything he had the bar to far forward on his palms, the trainer couldnt catch that weight either hes not gona hold onto the bar the whole time even if his hands were under it hes not gona catch about 250-270lb

@kaz0418 You idiot: It WAS a bad grip. The thumbs are there to prevent stupid shit like this happening. It's his fault for using a suicide grip. If he wanted to isolate his muscles, use a damn machine. A bench and free bar are MEANT to utilize all his muscles when he works out. If you ever worked out in a gym, you'd know this.

Both of these dumbshits are accountable.....: The spotter should have noticed that he had a false grip on the bar, and should have used alternate grip technique on the spot. Secondly, the dumbass benching should not have tried that grip in the first place. Darwin wins again.

He is using: what some call a suicide grip. (No explanation needed) The thumbs are not around the weight. Many lifters do this as it gets the weight directly over the arms for best leverage. The penalty for a mistake is obvious!
@Govnr actualy: its done to avoid pressure on the wrist so you dont get wrist injuries in the future ;]
