A small sailboat tries to cut in front of an oncoming ferry boat. What was he thinking? Kind of reminds me of that scene in caddy shack where Rodney Dangerfield steers the boat right into the Flying Wasp. I hope no one was hurt.

You retard: The sailboat does not have the right of way. Yeah in a crossing situation or other normal circumstances a sailing vessel does have the right of way. But just because your in a sail boat doesn't mean you can just cut in front of any boat. Plus he wasn't sailing he didn't have his sails up. I love ignorance

@sickboy2274Correction, the Sail boat ALWAYS has the right of way in any situation, whether they are under wind power or not. I too Love ignorance.

The sailboat has the right of way: ...but swerving at the last second wasn't the smartest thing to do. I'd love to see the aftermath of this - it would be funny as hell.

Ferry's fault: According to Marine Law, the sailboat has the right-of-way. It's the ferry's fault. Back off, ferry! Yield, I say!

    • shocker363

      shocker363 - 2 years ago

@stinkyfingeractually not: actually since the sailboat was useing its motor not its sails it looses its right of way privliges and so its the sailboats fault for cuting in front

@stinkyfingerVery True Shocker...: The second rule in the USCG Rules of the Road basically is a common sense rule saying that you are at fault if you fail to act reasonably and an accident occurs. So even if the sail boat was under sail he still would have been at fault for turning in front of the ferry.

Supposedly, this was an insurance scam busted by this footage: Could be wrong, but I read somewhere this was really a fraud attempt by the sailboat owner to gain collect insurance on the craft by delibertly turning in front of a large ferry. Thanks to the footage he was busted !!
