That's actually pretty smart thinking...: Not sure how it will steer, but that's not bad thinking if you need to move a boat and it happens to have a big backhoe on it.

Barge: Those barges aren't self propelled, they need a tug-boat to pull them. They probably didn't have one available, or it broke down.

WTF....: why is this so fascinating to people??? I watched 60 minutes about the reconstruction of the leveys in New Orleans and the fat construction worker said that they use the backhoe as a "paddle" on purpose.... now isnt THAT fascinating!
