they didnt just leave cuz as soon as they let it go it would have continued to attack which would have been worse and would have meant that they couldnt get away. im a zookeeper and if that was me, hell yeah i woulda hit the thing. animals react to dominance in situations like that. also, they were hitting in the nose with a shovel because thats one of the most sensitive parts and should have deterred it. its like when you tap the top of your dogs nose for biting or something. they also didnt use much force

Why didn't they just tranquilize the poor thing. It is an animal and animals are unpredictable. I hope they are all fired and prosecuted on amimal cruelty charges. None of them have any right working anywhere near animals.
@WhiteTiger409you should fault the zoo management not the keepers. im a zookeeper and we have no say in anything. zoo management are the only ones with the tranq guns which is stupid but the way the have it. the zookeepers were doing what they had to in order to get out alive. if you notice, they arent hitting it hard. and yes i agree there shouldnt have been any need for the shovel because there should have been a tranq gun there within minutes if not seconds. but if it was you being attacked in there would you want som

Well after working months with Reindeers personal, I see this a pour training. There is only one part where they are doing it right (when they are sitting on it). Otherwise, turning your back on them is the first no no, then it just down from there.
@ToddGoweni agree. but i also think thats not the zookeepers faults. ive been a zookeeper and i can tell you that most of the training i got was from myself researching. our zoo management sucked. also, where the hell was the guy with the tranq gun?

They couldn't just leave because letting go would mean another chance to get gored, but I can't believe they are stupid enough not to have some strong rope available. Anybody dealing with livestock knows this - same goes for wild animals. Get a rope on him and snub him up to a fence or tree, morons!
