  The professor did this calm and methodically, not in a heat of rage. This was clearly planned and the laptop is old and was probably laying around his house, and used just to make a point. Forget the fact, that even with tenure he would be fired, and that that no person would sit by and let this happen.

  If you PAY for your education and CHOOSE NOT to pay attention, there is no need for this bullshit. While I would not condone the use of a laptop (specifically for playing video games in class), smashing someone's laptop because you do not agree with their choices sends a pretty lame message.   well on a teachers salary that should equal about half of what he makes in a year. i like the idea of telling him he is going to be sued or give me an "A" and a new $3000 laptop. i love how these student just let the teacher take their cell phone or laptop and crush it without putting up a fight.
