You'd think that after flying over 3/4s of the runway before the wheels even touched the ground would have told them "lets try again"

Nothing like getting higher than a kite and watching planes land at the airport.

It looks like they've intentially shortened the runway so that these guys sitting in the trucks collecting their checks would have something to do.

I like the non-plus comments, like the kid thinks he's playing a video game: "well, that's an interesting one to get on tape anyway..."

"Fortunately, both men on board were not seriously injured." -- Does this mean only one of them was seriously injured? :D

      WichitaStu - a year ago

@SILLInstainNo. It means that neither of them were injured or possibly just one.

Pilot was way too high, and should have aborted the landing. Well any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

@maxx756maxx756..you are correct. This is the St. Bart's airport. You have to skim the hill on the approach. This guy lost his nerve and definitely came in too high. He should have aborted and gone around. Thirty dollars worth of fuel is a whole lot cheaper than recovering a $300,000 airplane.

@maxx756ya he definitely wasn't too high. He was going way too fast which is why when he went to flare the plane just kept on floating. Should have done a go around

That's the runway in St. Barts. Pilots have to pass a special test to be able to land here...I guess this guy failed.

@Darsballs69: times 2.. that pilot is just lame, if you have a little knowing of stoppingdiscance you would have bailed, perhaphs approached from the other side

    • steviegee

      steviegee - 2 years ago

@RyushoNo kidding. He was, what, 3/4 the way down the runway before he even touched down? He-LLO! You don't touch down in the first 1/8th of that runway, you GO AROUND. Always an option. As a flight instructor, I find this video highly educational. Man. Big plane like that and they think they'll stop in 200 feet. Just ignorant.

    • doublekuntz

      doublekuntz - 2 years ago

@Ryushothey stopped in 200 feet.... into the sand.

I think everyone in this video is stoned. The camera man, the pilot and anyone else close enough to get a contact high.

@Rocky06fx4The pilot was drunk. I know for a fact, because I was the pilot.

I am a pilot, I fly all day long for a job so I can speak with authority when I say that was a woman driver - she probably hit the accelerometer instead of the break HaHaHa

I'm no pilot, but it sure does look easier landing from the other side

    • m23cush

      m23cush - 2 years ago

@tfb0412If you were a pilot you'd know you land going into the wind. The wind dictated a landing from that direction.
