  Ffigher pilots fault.: I happen to be a KC-135 mechanic. While that may not have been a 135, It could have been, with a MPRS pod (Multi Point Refueling Station) on the wing tip. I know a bit about drouges. They can't "just reel the hose in and attach a new drouge basket", how are you going to get out to the wing tip? Magical railing? Plus it most likley ripped the connection out of the end of the hose, thats a hose replacement. they would have to drop the MPRS pod and replace the hose and probably do a who

  Not: that big of a deal. They reel the hose back in, attach another drogue and reel it back out a few minutes later. A few dozen pounds of fuel (whatever was in the hose) and a cheap drogue are all that are lost.

  Happens too often: Refueling mid air is as difficult as landing on a carrier, just not as dangerous if you mess up. These aren't Jump Jets {Harriers} though, I can say that much. Have a great life and live it to the fullest, not growing roots to your chair, lol

  In air refueling is one of the hardest things to do as a fighter pilot: you have to be at the right speed, be careful of the air turbulence caused by the refueling aircraft and you have to have perfect timing, not forgetting you have to maneuver the refueling arm, into a thing thats only a few centimeters across.
