I have never seen anything like this before but I am going to go out on a limb and say this must have some type of flaw or it would be bigger news than just the Break Homepage.

this machine works, but will only run until the materials degrade, my friend's father actually made a bigger version of it using a bicycle wheel, and using neodymium magnets, and an electromagnet, it worked, but didn't produce enough electricity to get rid of their electric bill, and so currently he is redesigning it.

unfortunately it is not perpetual as the materials will degrade over time, however, given our technology, this is as close as we can get to it, so congratulations on getting much closer to perpetual motion

laws of entropy, the first and second laws of thermodynamics state that there can never be a perpetual motion machine

M'kay, for all the dimwits thinking we've just been demonstrated the perpetuum mobile by a loser (which can't even trim his nails or wash under them) - the trick is in a compressed air gas can JUST off the screen to the left. Point the nozzle to wards the "windmill" you made, press the release and - PRESTO - you've just confused a bunch of dimwit Break loser users!

@tpachalYes, that is why this one is so much more successful because it runs constantly with no other force necessary. Kthx.

This is why regular people aren't engineers. Because this just can't happen.....You can't just produce energy out of no where. Frankly you're the laughing stock of every university.

    • HowieD

      HowieD - 3 years ago

@TrevorPI'm only the lauging stock because they didn't do this 1st.

    • chuck_meister

      chuck_meister - 3 years ago

@TrevorPHere's what's happening here: 1) You're only powering 1 LED, which means you're producing around .5 mA--not going to solve an energy crisis 2) Magnets cannot be sources of perpetual energy because they lose their charge over time 3) Friction between your wheel of magnets and the surrounding air takes a lot of your energy, making it inefficient--if you could scale this up to the point that you could power something meaningful, you would be running at less than optimal efficiency. 4) You might be able to prod

It's fake, the motor is being powered. It's setup to look like he's extracting energy from the attractive force of 2 magnets, then extracting more energy from the magnets repelling again. Try this with 2 magnets if you have them lying around. To do this, you have to give one of the magnets a half turn after they have attracted. That half turn takes as much energy as you get from the system and attracting and repelling. The geometry is different, but he's essentially doing something similar, as the mag

    • Vinehead

      Vinehead - 3 years ago

@Vineheadmagnets on the rotor have to continue spinning around so the opposite pole is facing the driving magnet. That 'dead zone' between the poles actually takes a lot of energy. You can't pick up 'free' energy moving a magnet in and then back out of a magnetic field, same way you can't get energy moving in and out of a gravity field or electric potential field. To put it another way, if you throw a magnet at a second magnet, it can't come shooting off faster than you threw it.

     wow...using a magnet clearly isn't perpetual motion......Dumbass....

    • impervium

      impervium - 3 years ago

@TanquerayI agree. We're all clear with the fact that has yet to be proven wrong, that perpetual motion cant be made. With that being said: Magnets can do whats shown in the video. But magnets are not charged forever, and will eventually loose their magnetic pull if the metal in the magnet isnt remagnetized. So this video is probably true and safe, and keep in mind, there is no promises in the title for perpetual motion, so stop whining about it.

  • NewImage

    NewImage - 3 years ago

Fake!, there is another wire in the back that is turning on the motor. As he pulls the magnet away it still speeds up at the same rate. This could not work because the attraction of the magnets would be the same after the magnet has passed its closest point, so the same magnet speeding it up would also work to slow it down.

FAKE!! When he spun the motor by hand the light bulb lit up brightly for a split second. Then with this magnet wheel the motor is spinning much faster but the bulb only lights up dimly and it takes a few seconds for it to work.

dont fall for this many have tried the same thing for hundreds of years. it doesnt work. the energy he applied moving the magnet closer is why it is spinning. you can get the same thing if you sit a magnet on the table and push another one close to the same pole it will shoot away. but in this farse there is little friction to slow it down and several magnet pass by it creating the same repulsion several times which accelerates it to high speed but if the magets are fixed the wheel will eventually slow to a

not perpetual motion. it would have to run continuosly without the magnet. magnet powered lightbulb

    • Hendor

      Hendor - 3 years ago

@superbadassNo, what is depicted in the video IS perpetual motion, which is why it is obviously fake. The maker of the video has found some other way to turn the wheel beside the magnet. I'm thinking that there's a fan or the "motor" isn't actually a motor but a battery/motor which powers the wheel and turns on the light. And to Cigar Hero, you have no idea what you're talking about, read the wikipedia article about magnets.

NOT FAKE BUT MIS-TITLED. ANY FAKE IS FROM BREAK STAFF. All magnets lose their magnetism eventually as the _positive and negative charges (one side having too many electrons, the other side being stripped of electrons) cancel themselves out through ELECTRON TRANSFER. Also, the BULB IS NOT THAT BRIGHT, to create a light source as bright as a SPOTLIGHT out of this one would have to have a HOUSE SIZED WHEEL AND COFFEE CAN SIZED MAGNETS. NOT FAKE, JUST MIS-TITLED. THIS IS ELEMENTARY SCIENCE, YOU SHOULD HAVE

    • Youareamoron

      Youareamoron - 3 years ago

@CigarHeroAgreed. Plus, it takes more electricity to create the magnets than you can get out of them through this setup. It's possible that this could still have some kind of use, though -- magnets as energy storage devices. Mayyybe.

    • almightymaster00

      almightymaster00 - 3 years ago

@CigarHeroActually, there's no electron movement in an Magnet (unless there's an electric current going through it). Anyway, the magnetism is due to the organization of the the molecules and their spin.

Fake. If it was that easy to create a perpetual generator, we'd have done it a hundred years ago.
