I am pretty sure they didn't change the laws of physics since I left college but I still can't figure out how this dude pulled off the video.

I agree, my first instinct is to think it is an optical illusion....however, atfer watching it several times, I'm not so sure. If it is illusion, the editor took pains to make it appear more real: look at the guy's shadow on the structure as he walks in front of the light source....the shadow that is cast appears to be consistent with the structure being raised, not flat. Also, if you look on the left there is clearly a shadow of the structure and it does not appear flat from that perspective either.....so

@introspectaclenah, his reflection appears on the bit that *should* be furthest away first (top bit), still not entirely sure how it's done but it appears that the bottom 2 levels are flat and the top bit is ever so slightly raised

thats called forced perspective, it doesn't actually flow up but it looks like it does. this is a illusion. take a look at the the structure; that is a Escher painting. If you don't know what his work was famous for he made impossible things. Look at the supports; are they straight?

I give it one thing, its some nice video editing. A little back ward motion and some cuts and pastes make nifty video

look pritty damn real to me. the structure portrays a shadow you can clearly see the water pouring into the wheel and making it spin. in theory this would work.

@sauronsatanExcluding the laws of physics right? You know like gravity and such! IDK call me the moron but im pretty sure your IQ is somewhere in the 40's. Am I correct?

@sauronsatanIn theory, you may be one of the stupidest people I have ever encountered. And the theory holds up pretty damn well.

It's called 'Forced Perspective'. In this case, the water track is laid out flat on the floor all the way to the garage door and the camera is at such a position so as to make it appear that the whole thing is standing tall.

this was so easy to figure out... look at the width of the ramp he pours on, and the width of the end... it is clearly laying flat on the ground zig zaging twards the door

@Lithcausethen what is spinning the wheel?

    • introspectacle

      introspectacle - 8 months ago

@Lithcausehow is the water falling on the wheel that in your view is several feet away and at the same height as the wheel?

This is clearly an optical illusion. One way you can tell is by looking at the tower-like structure on the right. Look at the right post on that tower and the places on the ramps it touches. You will realize that it is impossible for the pole to connect at the points they appear to me touching. These are simply ramps laid on a floor with the poles edited in place to make the ramps appear elevated. Sounds confusing, but this exact idea has been portrayed before by the famous artist, M C Escher. NICE TRY THOU

fake. you can't have perpetual motion. it is not for sale in the states. you have to go to ampsterdamn to get it

I'd have to go with the optical illusion, but still, how the heck?

When looking at the 'machine' imagine that the vertical supporting wood is not there. Then you will see that the main part of this 'machine' is just tilted wood on the floor. 'Perpetual motion machine' = 'optical illusion'!!!

not only is it perpetual motion, but part of it is a shadow deflector. 0:32 the right side completely deflects the shadow! impressive.
