Dont look for much sympathy from AT&T if your house just burnt down in California. These newlyweds called them to cancel their service after their house was destroyed and AT&T informed them they would be responsible for the 300 dollar receiver that was lost effective immediately.

Americans preach capitalism, this is it in practice. If you want the government or companies to pay for your expenses, North Korea looks pretty good.

This doesn't prove AT&T Sucks, it proves that if you don't know your rights then you don't have any! This is a prime example of how having pre-paid legal service is a NEED in our extrememly litigious society.

don't feel any sympathy for them, or should I AT&T is a business it is not there fault the house burnt down. When they signed the contract for the sat receiver i am sure it said they were responsible for it. Why is it that people think a company should take a loss just because someone has fallen on hard times, besides you can purchase insurance through AT&T to cover the receiver, for cases just like this

You two yuppies don't deserve a damn ounce of sympathy. You shouldn't build a house in an area that is constantly hit by forest fires. You can't build a home in a flood plain, it's the same principle. "The first thing they asked was if I grabbed the receiver!!! " LOLOL!!! That's hilarious. Good for the customer service rep...."So then, like, I asked to talk to, like, talk to the supervisor...." What a grating, nagging, whiny voice that b!tch has...I'd have told her ass to fork up the money pronto too.

AT&T Stinks: I have a collection out on me for $144 for an overdue cell bill with AT&T. The only problem is the phone is a Sprint phone, it's a Sprint phone number. I contest it, they remove it, it goes back on every 3 months or so. They've threated to send it to their "legal department", and I've encouraged them to do so. In the meanwhile, it affects my credit and they refuse to remove it...

AT&T: is company full of scam artists. my cellphone was shutting off for no reason, so we sent it in for repairs. they sent a new phone and 2 weeks later charged me 165 dollars for the new phone. i called to ask why and after 3 1/2 hours on the phone, they said it was my fault, so i asked for my old phone back, but they sent it back with no battery or back to the phone, so i was forced to pay the charge.

wtf: Just because its NOT YOUR FAULT that the receiver is gone doesnt mean that it is no longer your REPONSIBILITY. If they had proper hazard insurance, they will gladly pay off the AT&T debt probably before the bill actually makes it to the post office. dont expect companies to just forget about debts that you owe because you had a fire.

No Surprise From AT&T: I lived in New Orleans when Katrina hit. When I returned, I kept getting the run around from AT&T as to when phone service would be restored. Finally gave up after 4 months and got phone service through Cox Communications. AT&T was supposed to release my phone number to Cox, but refused to do so. Got a new number, and told AT&T "never mind." 14 months after the storm, AT&T came out while I was not home and reconnected the phone service to my house. HOWEVER, they never told me t

so if you build your house in a fire hazard zone: you don't have to look after the phone company's property if it gets destroyed? i'll remember that

    • FleshtoneTrash

      FleshtoneTrash - 2 years ago

@SquidlyMcNerdyou have better things to worry about: Your insurance will pay AT&T for the equipment and late fees, just send the bill to them with all the other itemized loses. Take a chill pill and don't sweat the small stuff. You lost your home, which is tragic, but AT&T's minimum wage call workers have their instructions to follow to collect on their equipment, no matter what the cause for the loss. If I called and said my dog pissed on my equipment - not my fault, send me a replacement. What constitutes a legit
