Actually, squirrels are rarely found with rabies. To get rabies, a squirrel would have to be infected by a host with the virus, probably through a bite. It is hypothesized that squirrels and other small rodents, including but not limited to mice and chipmunks, would not be able to survive a pathogen spreading interaction with an infected host. Therefore, you probably did not almost get rabies...dude.
