Revolutionary New Liquid Armour

The future is now! A brilliant University of Delaware professor has invented a liquid that when added to kevlar creates a thin flexible armour that can be worn like a pair of jeans. Seriously how far away are we from hoverboards? Can we get an update on that?

Won't they over heat in this stuff? They are already loaded down and covered up enough as it is, now they wanna issue liquid coated clothing. We'll see if it works.

Good idea: I remember making this shit back in Biology class in high school. I always thought that it should be used towards making body armor.

Planning on a war we can actually win.: Apparently our next enemies will be kids with pellet rifles... that's no bullet, it's a .177 caliber pellet from a bb gun.

@Boarspearwuzheretrue,: but if that pellet were traveling not even close to a bullets speed, it would in threoy not penitrate. like the faster it travels.

um: I'm not gonna pretend that I know anything about bullets/ballistics/body armor, but with such thin armor, wouldn't the impact of being hit by a bullet still incapacitate a soldier, and would the bullet still bounce when the kevlar is placed against human flesh? It seems like the bullet bouncing is due to more of a trampoline effect than a ricochet.

    • fukncheddar

      fukncheddar - 2 years ago

@AndrewZsure?: I'm not a ballistics expert by any means. But normal kevlar is really only good for stopping the bullet from breaking through the skin, there is still massive amounts of force put on the body, i think with this stuff, if the entire area stiffens, then that force that used to only hit a small area would dissipate across a larger area. I'm not entriely sure about the bullet bouncing back though, i guess since kevlar more or less catches the bullet, and this stuff would put some force into projecting

it may: stop the bullet, but your still going to get some internal injuries. the material isn't going to stop the force of the bullet, just the bullet itself.

    • mitchh30

      mitchh30 - 2 years ago

@mike5735If it becomes ridgid: it will disperse the energy over a broad enough area to prevent serious injury.

    • j1tat2

      j1tat2 - 2 years ago

@mike5735mike: honestly which would you rather have full blown bullet wound or something that could be as substantially less as a bruise

    • shad0h

      shad0h - 2 years ago

@mike5735Remember: They're talking about this stuff more for the arms and legs. You're talking about some deep muscle bruising sure but you'll live to fight on. Use more substantial stuff for the torso.

    • Cheese117

      Cheese117 - 2 years ago

@mike5735.: its much better to have a serious bruise than have a shitload of internal bleeding and a bullet stuck in your body, possibly puncturing a vital organ. i dont think i spelled that right. oh well, its break.com anyway.

  • luciferr666

    luciferr666 - 2 years ago

the bullet may not kill you: but its still going to hurt like a mo fo and if you get hit in the nuts your going to wish you were dead
