These two planes have a very close call. Are airshows like Nascar races where people look forward to the crashes?

FAKE: CGI, no really think that that was part of the stunt and from the ground its not that close in the sky.

chill out,: the video was still cool, the point of the video was to show how close and how good these pilots are, just like in nascar and in airshow the entertainment is the close calls. So this gentlemen was posting a video of some entertainment which is what this site is for

Near miss...near hit: Who the fuck actually cares? This was neither. It's called aerobatics guys, stunt flying, where you get close to impress people and make them go 'oooooh' a lot. Cool stunt, rubbish description.

Stop posting these crappy videos: Nobody cares to watch aerobatic manuevers that we can see at most airshows, because you think it looks like they got really close. This is boring.

WAS THIS PLANNED: WAS THAT AN ACCIDENT DURING THE AIRSHOW..OR WAS THIS A PLANNED TRICK??? IF IT WAS PLANNED AND PRACTICE....HOLY CRAP THATS AMAZING

Near Miss: Uhh..Wouldn't it be a near hit..cause they nearly hit each other not a near miss...that means that they hit each other. They 'nearly' missed.

Airshow Fun: Although the first one was during an aerobatics routine, yes, the aircraft were not supposed to get that close

pretty sure they did that on purpose: ...

Thats whats supposed to happen: Being a near miss is the whole point of the stunt. Next on break.com, a sword swallower narrowly misses his gullet in a daring feet of........sword swallowing. followed by a tight rope walker..........walking on a very thin rope..ooooh aaaaaahh

Hey StiffCookie....: ....Dog fight maneuver? They didn't shut their engines off, and they didn't stall their aircrafts. Remember these are stunt aircraft. When it comes to air combat maneuvering, no pilot ever shuts their engine off, or deliberately stalls their aircraft. Speed is life. As for this demo, that's all it is, a demo.

Nice Stunt: Looks to me like they both stall-turned. Basically where they just shut off the engines and use the weight and momentum of the plane to pull off very tight turns. A Dog fighting maneuver.

Near Miss?: Okay, Nearly Missing means they hit eachother...If you ALMOST MISS something, you probably hit it. Near Hit is more like it, and that is clearly a stunt that is part of the show. But considering you thought they were going to hit eachother, then I guess they did their Job

That's the point of air shows...: they do close calls like that... they are really about 20' away from each other.

That is so...: F!@#$ing Amazing. I am a pilot and I have never seen that manuever before especially done so well.

Very nice: Very nicely done, two very good pilots, this stunt is one of the hardest at airshows, i dont kno how many planes they went through practicing it :)

  • evox786

    evox786 - 2 years ago

insane skill: Wow, those pilots have incredible skill and reflexes. No, we don't look forward to plane crashes like we look forward to car crashes in NASCAR. Crashes in racing are far less costly and dangerous. God bless America!
