This is why I don't go skydiving: parachute is too similar to paraplegic for me. Luckily, this man survived with a concussion and a few broken ribs.

@Dan-Kiser-669again im a person who has jumped only 8 times but i know its harder than it looks to do..maintain level body position and add in i reserve rode my way into a tumble after a flat spin out of control lost alt, awareness and the cypres saved my ass..i saw a guy bounce in 79' at a airshow and had to see why it was so difficult...i found out....swooping is a lot like adding a 2nd bullet to a game of russian roulette......its a sexy ride but maybe the last one ....u never know..we choose this.

Why any sane person would jump out of an airplane I will never know. Of course I used to rapell out of Blackhawks from 90 feet but that's different, you are connected to the ground by a ROPE.

From skyXtreme.com Fatal Accident at the Pond Swoop Nationals The Pond Swoop National Championships at the Blue Sky Ranch in Gardiner, NY, was overshadowed by the fatal accident of a competitor during the last round of the event. On Sunday afternoon, August 26, Lisa Gallagher [41] from Ohio was fatally injured during her final approach for an swoop accuracy landing on a raft in the middle of the pond. She was using a conservative carving approach and then did a left hand turn towards the pond. The left

This definitely happened in America. In foreign countries, bystanders never rush to the rescue.

This was years ago so not a recent incident and yes it was fatal... Any swooping contest yeilds some kind of injury, it's mainly the low altitude hook turns that cause the problems and the guy that said about the burble was right, obstacles slightly higher than ground level in the glide slope will cause an air disturbance called wind sheer, hook turning to final over trees was not the best idea... holding a swooping contest with the swoop pond next to the trees was an even worse idea. I think they were usi

@kr0meYeah, turbulence from trees and buildings is well known, not sure why a DZ would put a swoop pond near trees. The winds may not come from that direction most of the time, but some time they will. I did a demo into a baseball field several years ago, I was jumping a SharpShooter. I lost 3 cells about 70' off the ground due to the winds coming over the stands (not a pro stadium, but a rather large one). Fortunately the cells re-inflated quickly and I landed safely, the worst thing about it is that I land

this was a fatal landing. A young woman was participating in a pond swoop contest at The Ranch in Gardner NY, when unstable rotors from the trees caused her canopy to partially collapse. She was dead at the scene.

First of all he was swooping with a high performance canopy. Secondly this guy died from his injuries. He encountered a burble coming in on final and his canopy didnt have time to recover. Of course all the pussies on this site want to talk shit cause theyre too scared to jump in the first place. Just go ahead and say it...you are too much of a vagina to jump out of an airplane.
