Leonids tend to bright and colorful, but I don't think this was a Leonid. I would think it was more like a stray meteor....

By the way.. this actually had nothing to do with the Leonids... this was a stray random bolide meteor. It was 100 miles up and traveling at 80,000 miles per hour and was about the size of an oven.

I saw this with my own eyes. I couldn't believe how bright this thing was! It literally turned night into a summer day at noon! It happened at 12:07 am and I was waiting at a stop light when BAM! I was blinded and shocked.... quite an amazing sight if you ask me.

@mpetrieFunny how people easily disbelieve someone who said they saw it with their own eyes. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and was driving home from seeing 2012 (no joke... I know.. how ironic) that night and just happened to be facing the direction where it was coming from. I saw the initial flicker of light and looked to my left and watched it light everything up. After the light faded, I could still see a tiny orange dot continue to fall so hopefully the meteor landed and it'd be cool if someone located it. Nev

The date in the top corner of vid 2 states 2009-11-18. So it's not a Leonid; Just a regular meteorite, or maybe even a piece of space junk.
