An ancient mechanical computer which was built to predict solar eclipses from 100 BC was discovered off the coast of Antikythera in 1901. This guy took this impressive device and built an identical replication out of Legos.

Sooooo, they spent a 1,000 man hours building something I can do with a $.99 iPhone app? Hmmm.

this is impressive for ancient times, not impressive now. essentially they've built a gear reduction (like a transmission) to create a manual calendar. So no, this doesn't predict anything anymore than a calendar predicts when Christmas will arrive again

Actually, it is FAR more interesting reading all high school drop-outs hating and flaming the video than watching the video itself. Not because it isn't cool, quite the opposite, but because of the vast emptiness in those hater's lives and heads. Sad little buggers, no presents for you this year. Go out of basement and try something real for change.
