  ABL tech: Been around since the early '80s and this 747-400F is out of Kirtland AFB, Alb. N.M.     @vladievladie you're an idi0t: I learned the basics of how nuclear missiles work when I was like 12, and I know that shooting it down wouldn't cause the nuclear payload to detonate. Plutoniam/uranium isn't set off the say way gunpowder is. They're, umm, slightly different.

    @ViiltajaHis point is: that we should stop developing weapons because doing so just forces others to develop weapons to defeat them. It's a bad argument for sitting on your hands. It's a BS argument of course. People will develop new weapons, whether the US does or not. Thus, the right strategy for the US is to keep developing so it has the most advanced weapons.

    @Raptor123You are correct: The technowledgy has been around for a while but this is the first time they have put it in an air craft. The reason for the 747 is they need a lot of space to store all the chemical batteries.

  Cool...: this may be effective if applied to dogfighting. Just attach it to your jets! Attack the enemy before they can even get their missiles off! The bad thing is now enemies will just put a heat-resistant sleeve over their missiles.

    @Deadbird17ummm, no: This thing wont work on air to air missiles, it depends on the missile taking a fairly straight path and being at a very high altitude (higher then any jet fighter will be). Putting a mirror finish on the missile wont help, and like Bona says, adding armour to the missile would make it to heavy to make the trip
