Why even attempt backflips? It's not like if you pull it off people will be saying 'Holy crap! I can't believe he did it...a backflip!'. Yet if you fail you snap your neck. Risk vs reward just doesn't seem to be there for me.

    One of my grandfathers worked in the coal yards and one day a heavy load of coal landed on his neck. The other guys suggested he go and get it looked at, and my grandfather refused, saying it clearly was okay since "my neck isn't all crooked or anything." As he worked through the day, it got more and more painful. Finally, that night, he went to the hospital and discovered his neck was broken. He had shovelled coal all day like that and risked permanent paralysis. Lesson: you can break your neck with

      @SmashTheStateout necessarily having any symptoms. ALWAYS immobilize the neck and don't try to move after any kind of neck injury. Better safe than paralyzed.
