  Tried to jump: The idiot could've just kicked high instead of jumping. If this is TKD, I think he's doing a weird, jumping, spinning goro-chagi. He could've done it with the front leg, or at least without the bloody jump. Also, whoever said TKD doesn't work in self-defense is dead wrong. Sure, maybe that kick might not, but a light punch to the face and a front kick to push the attacker away would do nicely.

    @POE1917It used to be: before it became the game of tag it is now. Modern TKD players (not fighters) are not taught to block or even punch. It's entirely a game of foot tag and I'm ashamed of what it's become. In fact, after 11 years of teaching TKD I walked away from the art 4 years ago disgusted with the entire community (the Korean masters who once taught military-style fighting technique, which was practical and realistic, have sold out and are now more interested in selling tuition to parents who want thei

  Eh..: 1. Spin moves or jumping kicks are usually a bad idea in a tournament setting...you telegraph what you're doing and most decent martial artists would be able to block. 2. Why the hell did he hit him so hard? It's supposed to be light contact, not MMA.

    @bloodynuklya man: tkd is definitely the most pointless martial art... it's incredibly impractical in real-life defense situations... the only time using tkd is a good idea is against another person who also does tkd.

    @bloodynuklactually: almost ALL martial arts are pointless. the experienced fighters are gonna know what the karate guys are gonna do and they usually get their ass kicked. its a weak self defence because hopefully if you get mugged the guy mugging you is just some dumb shit.

  you guys obviously dont know anything about martial arts: the kid wouldnt have gotten a point for that because he fell down but because of the fact that he most likely knocked the other guy out he won the match. and thats not a "cobra kai karate kick" first of all thats tae-kwon-do and second of all stop trying to dress up the word and make it sound cool. its a friggen wheel kick. nothing special about it. if it was tae-kwon-do they wouldn't be wearing that gear and they would be punching too.

    @straightjacketobviously you dony really know what your talkin bout: cause 1. you do wear that in tae kwon do..its called sparring gear..2nd its not a "wheel kick" because his knee bent to do the kick so it would be a spinning heel kick...3 he would have gotten a point cause i won a match in a tornament doin that(wasnt on purpose)but he did win cause he koed him so yea...but you are right about them callin it cobra kai or whatever..in conclusion this is def a tae kwon do tornament..
