You got to give it to this pilot. What an incredible job landing with a busted wheel. Passengers onboard even said afterward if they hadnt been notified beforehand they never would of known that the landing gear had failed.

hmm: i just think he shud have been able to stop quicker than that, with reverse thrust and two main landing gear breaks.. hmm anyway still did a good job

      trublgrl - 3 years ago

@cls88The point was not to stop quickly, it was to stop without the force of inertia snapping the forward gear and causing the plane to land on it's belly, endangering the passengers further, and taking the plane out of commission, oh, probably forever.

      wilmac - 3 years ago

@cls88i agree wit trouble girl,,stopping quick puts more weight on the front,,increasing the potential for the landing gear to completely discenagreate and collapse and causing a disaster//its 8thgrade science.,,u were probably in the hall jakin off as usual.

Actually: the really incredible job was done by the engineers, as the plane was designed for this kind of failure ;) Really cool how he slides down the runway exactly on the centerline

      @Konnor100% agree: engineering rules.

    • obie22

      obie22 - 2 years ago

@Konnor"Designed for failure?": I'm pretty sure engineers try to design things not to malfunction. The crew performed well in a stressful situation.

    • Pea_Tear_Griffyn

      Pea_Tear_Griffyn - 2 years ago

@KonnorNo: Engineers design things planning for them to fail. They build contingencies into everything. So WHEN something fails, they don't get sued.

OH MY GOD: HOW DID HE MAINTAIN CENTERLINE!? HE DID IT PERFECTLY!!!?

    • Jalapeno81

      Jalapeno81 - 2 years ago

@Collegefundsi dont know how you call it in English: but i think he adjusted his heading by powering the engines seperate with "reverse thrust"... if he even needed it, ont sure if the plane itself not just goes straight forward all alone with that wheel

Can you say....: This would make me want to fly jet blue because it shows that they have pilots that can handle worst case situations. Two thumbs up to the F.O. and the Captain

Awesome: I remember watching this live. I was at the gym, and by the time they landed, just about everyone in the gym was watching, and when they came to a complete stop, the whole gym started clapping. ...It was awesome!

yeah ok..: what about the flight attendants?! They helped too, ya know! I know, i am a flight attendant(not for Jetblue) and were the ones who never get any fuckin praise for what we do...DAILY! It was a very nice landing. LA has a short runway so in this case yes the freakin pilots did good.

@mandy2185I'm sorry: what did the F/A's do to help the pilot land that Frog Aircraft so perfectly, again? Just be happy you are paid well for being a unskilled waitress, I mean be for real. And I thank god you do not work for jetBlue.

@BigBlock454SSFlight attandants??: Sorry did the hosties land the aeroplane?? Let me think about this... Captain, he's the man in charge and is a pilot, first officer, he is 2 1/c and he is a pilot, hosties they serve food and drinks, and do safety briefs and do not fly the aircraft. Well done to the captain and first officer for a first class effort. Oh, how many hosties landed the aeroplane? None... Why should they get the praise deserved by the handling pilots?? Answer? They dont.
