I might be a little geeky here but I thought this was a pretty cool video. This guy keeps a hard drive attached to his computer but opens it up to show what its actually does when messing with files on his computer.

this video is fake: As soon as the drive is open it because useless. Any spec of dust will ruin the reader once it passes over it at that speed.

Go Go Windows: That quick format is the best. Nothing like Windows leaves the majority of your data (that you don't want accessible) in magnetic storage once you format. It's like telling someone you can't read a book because you ripped out the table of contents. Quick format = security risk.
