Insane Rush Hour In Netherlands

Rush hour clip from a street corner in Utrecht, Netherlands where most of the transportation is done via bicycles. I watched the clip just waiting for the big pile up but was equally impressed when it never came.

theyre all fuckin inbred (look it up) on an island with no room and no auto industry. they have no use for cars. its not a choice, its a way of life. i doubt they're riding a 40 mile commute everyday like most americans hence the need for cars

@marytheicecubeI ride over 60 miles every day. In addition to riding a twenty pound bike loaded with 40 pounds of groceries (on average), and my 165 pound bodyweight, in one of the hilliest cities in america, I deliver bicycles with a cargo bicycle. Youre just lazy. I know people that are 200-280 pounds and still ride their bike everywhere, everyday. Even my grandma rides her bike.

Better than being stuck in traffic I guess...but riding bikes in weather that's even a bit warm will have half these folks sweating. They'd show up at work with swamp ass and nut soup.

15 seconds of normal speed video would be just as effective.

Wow, not one of those bikers (except the one on the motorcycle) was a fat ass. Looks like a nice place to live. I bet the air is a lot cleaner too.

They should at least make it a law that whenever they add or replace a new (or old) road, they should include bike lanes. The traffic doesn't bother me, but I hate to hold them up, all because the city can't add bike lanes. I love this concept. Like to see it in normal speed.

I am in! A place where bikes are king! Well at least pedestrians have to wait for them. I hate riding on bike trails around here, damn walkers and joggers talking side by side and expect you to stop and lose all your momentum so they can blab, never even think about going single file to accommodate bike traffic. Maybe I'll ride with full pads and play chicken.

its amazing how things come around. Developing nations like Vietnam are full of bicycles. Then they become more developed and they use cars, like in China. Finally, the "green" fully developed nations go back to bicycles. Kinda reminds me of the fisherman and the businessman story

take that as a role model! i only see buses and bikes. how about your carbon footprint, dear usa?

    • Turgid

      Turgid - 2 years ago

@tousledmonkeyWhy do they all ride bikes? BECAUSE BUYING A CAR AND GASSING IT UP IS TOO EXPENSIVE THERE! No other reason. It's not because they think it's best for the environment. Anyway, last I checked, The Netherlands was pretty flat.

    • Willem12345

      Willem12345 - a year ago

@tousledmonkey@Turgid Dude I am from The Netherlands and we have the 6th economy in Europe with a labour fource of only 7.83 million people! Instead of having 5 cars that drive 1 on 4 we just think green and healthy. So shut up with "too expensive' because I can buy your broke ass country with my pocket money.

Notice that no one was fat... hmmmm. What can America learn?

    • doofdoof

      doofdoof - 2 years ago

@TiggoBittiesThey don't serve cyclists via the drive- through!

    • Turgid

      Turgid - 2 years ago

@TiggoBittiesAmerica can learn that if food, gas and cars are too expensive for the average person to buy, then you have to eat less and ride a bike. LOL

Anyone noticed bike stealer and douchebag hopping the curb?

    • BreakeY

      BreakeY - 2 years ago

@PangWasHereIt was not a bike stealer, it is more likely that the individual was returning the bike for a friend. Additionally, the bike curb hopper is commonly seen in the Netherlands. The laws surrounding the bus of bikes as transportation is much, much less strict.
