In honor of the first aniversary of Hurricane Katrina we thought it would be appropriate to repost this great tribute to that tragedy. This tribute is extremely well done, some really powerful images.

Biloxi and the entire Gulf Coast was effected by Katrina not just New Orleans. New Orleans got all the attention because of the media focusing on the looting and crime instead of the human element.

wow, first picture: is of a couple who value their shit instead of their baby's life. Why did they not leave with their kid instead of stay?

      Mnc_ - 3 years ago

@DemontrooperWhat the shit are you talking about?: They've pulled their baby out of their flooded car, so the kid wouldn't risk drowning. You dumb bastard.

Its been two years...: And they're still looking for hand-outs...If you want something done you have to get off your ass and DO SOMETHING...Too many 'cradle to grave' welfare entitlement types.

@jackdamannSHUT UP: WHAT A F'N MORON! katrina was the worst natural disaster in u.s. history. if you'd been down there, you'd see how f'd up it is and why two years of underfunding from a slack a** government isn't going to fix the sh*t. THEY NEED OUR HELP

I do feel bad for the people down there but STFU: its hard to feel that bad i mean shit they were warned. I have freidns that lived there and when they heard the warning the left town. They lost their stuff but not their lives. Why would you stay knowing that your below sea level and you have levies that arent the best and cry when you suffer. Also, i will say that even at the risk of sounding racist, but to the dumb ass that said that more blacks join the military then whites...hmmm, i dont see it but eve

    • unionguy

      unionguy - 2 years ago

@solidstinchFor the people who had the ability and finances to leave: I somewhat agree with you, but many couldn't. The poverty that existed in New Orleans at the time prevented many from getting out at all.

Everyone who doesn't know Shutup: you have no idea what the hell we went through. Most of you are highschoolers who sit at there computer and wonder what they can say to piss people off. Might bet is that 99 percent of people posting negative comments just want to piss people off by acting like they and everyone just blew off and are ignoring a big tragedy like this. and deathmetal, fk you and your dumbass gothic nonconmformist music and ideas. Pussy.

@TAJohn1016I just hate: the friggin liberal utopia that was New Orleans. New Orleans was one of the most socialist cities in the country, where the democrats who ran it, and the state, could experiment with their welfare bullshit, etc. And when this disaster happened, they ran to the federal government for aid, because they had used up everything on crap like free health care and welfare. This is what happened in communist countries like Poland where my parents escaped from. You guys voted crap like that into power,

Im white: my family is white, we're from New Orleans and we got hit hard. For all those racist high schoolers posting you should realize, despite color, they're all your countrymen. And before spouting such terrible remarks realize that an overwhelming majority of poor blacks enter the army, unlike the majority of you lilly white kids from suburbia.

Chocolate city!....more of a zoo: A church in MA. took in a homeless N.Orlens famiy. They fed, clothed, and housed them. The church and local contractor were going to surprise them with a refurbished house. FREE! Then the family stole the churches money. Packed the pastors car with all his electronics, and stole that too. They were your typical fat, lazy, ignorant, welfare blacks. Don't help these monkee's. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! But, I guess that's what monkee's do.

Scofo,: First off, thank you. Secondly, what I was trying to get at with thorium, was to point that our goverment (U.S.) does basically what you stated in your comment. I was trying to tippie toe around, but I agree fully. And in regards to politicians and their respected intrests running this country into the ground, the wheels are already turning.

Its called a port...: You dumb fuck. The city was made there 1: because the river ends there and that made it easy to transport goods and that, also it means that river travellers would be able to rest there.and 2: because there is a large lake on the other side of the river.. and that meant a source of food. Go die please.

sloppie's new name: your comments are the best, i always usally agree with you, and i also hate thorium, never has posted anything that didnt involve liberals, well i hate to tell you both sides of our gov. our going to run our country into the ground, left and right is all the same, two sides of the same coin, they appear to work against each other, but ultimately they both achieve what they want, it wouldnt work with just one party, two parties help remind america of our so called "freedom"
