VBIED- not IED. This was filmed from the southbound overpass from Gunner Gate outside Camp Taji Iraq in late 2007. The target was an Iraqi General Officer- nobody was killed except the driver of the VBIED although several Iraqis were injured. The convoy was going to enter South Gate to access the CMATT side of Camp Taji (Iraqi controlled). I was at the Phoenix Academy COIN CFE around 600m away when this blast occurred.

defintely a VBied. but im not so sure that no one was killed...that first vehicle was too close. the turret gunner probably lost his torso. even if he didnt the over pressure would have been enough to kill anyone in the first vehicle maybe even the second.

it was a vbied. the truck carrying the explosives had 500 lbs of explosive material. on the left side of the screen you see people trying to get in a van and get away, becuase the vbeid had a marking on it. i dont think any soldier was killed due to their armored vehicles. we used this video as training aid during AIT.

um.,: that was a truck bomb not a road side bomb..a huge dump truck..those humvees were iraqi not american...and those I.A's lived but got pretty jacked up..

Not a roadside bomb: This is not a roadside bomb. There is a dump truck in front of 3 Humvees. The dumptruck moves over to the left to prevent the approaching Humvees from passing. Once they are bunched together the truck moves back over and when the convoy is next to it, the driver triggers the explosives. The dump bed of the truck was filled with explosives. Reports stated that the blast was felt and heard up to 7 miles away.

ok...: im no expert but that looked like a 1000 pound bomb hit there. how the hell could ANYONE have pulled one of those out of the back of a truck and burried it in the road without anyone seeing?
@Poontangie You can't watch every: square inch of the country, every second of the day. An emplacement can be done in 10 minutes. If you're asking whether the Iraqi's saw it, probably, but they don't care enough to warn us.
