All jokes aside...this clip states they at best have had a self-sustained flight just under 20 seconds maximum. Is this really as far as technology has come over 6,000 years?

I could fly my kids f'ing big wheel if you tie it to a car, hop on the big wheel on let's try it.
what a f'ing waste of time, CAR NEEDED, WTF? You can get any plane to fly with a car, that's a glider. And a big gust of wind will snap that thing.

Human powered flight happened more than two decades ago. I believe they flew several miles not just 20 seconds.

Break has it wrong. This is a record for a human-powered ornithopter - a flapping-winged craft. Human-powered, propeller-driven aircraft have flown much, much farther. This is a record for an incredibly inefficient form of flight. So... yay?

Interesting plane ... but definitely NOT a record for human powered flight. That honor goes to the MIT Daedalus which flew a distance of 71.5 mi (115.11 km) in 3 hours, 54 minutes. Your 19 sec flight doesn't cut it!
@ssejhill You are correct. This is a record for a human powered ornithopter - a flapping wing craft. Daedalus was propeller-driven. Break, as usual, screwed up. Still, you have to wonder, what is the point? It's a record for incredibly inefficient flight.

It's pretty good for a prototype.
