Electricity Lesson: First off, rusty, dont talk about things you dont understand. Voltage in parallel is not added together, voltage in series is. So it's probably 8 groups in parallel of 4 AA's in series each. Each group provides 1.5 x 4 = 6 volts each, all in parallel. and another thing: there may be 32 batteries there, but they probably dont have much charge in them. Battery charges are usually measrued in mAh (milliamp-hours), and more expensive batteries have more charge. These probably have very litt

Well, I've opened some lantern batteries before...: But There wasnt AA's there were 4 large batteries, but they not of the standard sizes, and were not shaped like a standard battery.

@buffmuffinidiot: i hope this was sarcasm. 9 volt batteries only have two cells inside. And for the idiots, this technically is possible. Since AA batteries have so much technology in them compared to other batteries, such as this size, it would almost make sense to use a large number of cells. If you wire six sets of 4 batteries in parallel, you will get six volts, and it will have a crapload of capacity (easily in excess of 10,000mah).
