Pilots fault, should've remained full throttle until it comes to a full stop.

@rhgwynn Two things... one, this isn't an American ship. Two, the cable broke. Arresting gear systems on Aircraft Carriers are automatic.

the cable snapped. it caught the arrestor cable though coz you see the plane slow down. it's always full throttle when it touches down.

this is partly the pilots fault.... when the touch down they are suppoust to go to full throttle just in case they miss the cable

      mambo4269 - 3 years ago

@grrtyxjhnApparently you don't have a lot of understanding about flying. In this case the pilot could not have done anything whatsoever. Selecting AB or Mil pwr upon touchdown is done to have to power to get airborne again if there is a 'bolter' which means missing the cables..........all of them. In this case the plane did catch a cable, you can see the plane slowing down. The plane caught the cable and the cable slowed the plane down. Selecting AB or Mil power won't help you then, the plane is connected to the

if you watch close it is not the pilots fault. look at the deck under the plain just before it goes off. you see a white flash/streak. that is the cable breaking. he had the hook, it slowed him down, but then it snapped after it killed the speed and just let him coast off the end. even if he had punched it hard, it was not a recoverable incident. that plane was getting wet no matter what that pilot did, and i am glad he punched out to fly another day

    • ProfessorDeath

      ProfessorDeath - 3 years ago

@Manticore116He did punch it hard--those guys gun it full-throttle when they land in case they miss the cable. It looks like he was coming to a stop and the cable snapped or came off-hook and the plane just accelerated lamely off the deck. Still not his fault, if that really matters in Russia. :-)

It is the pilots fault. when landing on one of those boats they are supossed to speed up so they can take back off, just incase they miss the landing cable.

@qwq27You have to watch the video better, he clips into the cable, but it snaps at the end :)

With the direction the carrier is moving chances are the pilot got chewed up by the screws. Happens more often than you might realize.
