STUPID PAKIS OR IRAQIS: don't fly a helo if you don't know when to give up

cont'd: when he attempted to go through translational lift by flying forward, he settled (typical)...as he added power so that he wouldn't hit the ground, the helo couldn't produce enough power for the main rotor AND enough counter-torque for the tail rotor....so, he spun around, which typically doesn't end well.

cont'd: in this case, it appears that the aircraft was operating at high altitudes, where the "Density Alitude" was extremely high, ie: in this case, because of the lack of air molecules which are necessary component for the production of lift

Loss of Tail Rotor Authority: ok, to set the record straight (since I flew 53Es in the Marines), this is *appears* to be a "loss of tail rotor authority" which is caused when the "power required" exceeds "power available".

@NilesAZ??: was it the US marines lol cause this crash didnt appear to be caused by a loss of tail rotor response but it couldnt gain altitude.

@DANGERDUDEDANGERDUDE???: ARE YOU CERTAIN ABOUT EVERYONE SURVIVING THIS CRASH?? I know the camera shots do not show us everyuthing and people climbing out oh that chopper was not something I saw. Do not get me worng, I would be happy to know some had survived but that fire was burning in seconds after the chopper crashed

It's physics!: Lower air pressure, less upward thrust from the helicopter blades. SIMPLE!

*continuation 2*: certain grades that pertain to those engines. although, areonautical fuel will not likely explode. the vapors can and will detonate when the conditions are likely. But it is true that areonautical fuel is based on a grade of kerosene and does not inherently explode. On another note, the video may or may not be fake. but the likeness of such an event to be likely is highly possible. Do not toy with the laws of physics. I have but i've been lucky enough to walk away from it. So far.

@Mediarockerwell: for the most part you are correct...just that you have 100LL or commonly referred to as avgas which is just a low leaded gasoline, and, turbine engines, which is most likely what is powering this, can run on diesel, avgas, different jet grades and even veggie oil

    • NilesAZ

      NilesAZ - 2 years ago

@Mediarockernegative on the avgas: avgas burns too hot for avgas

  • Mediarocker

    Mediarocker - 2 years ago

*continuation*: "cushoning" effect of the air is not present causing a condition commonly called "rotor stall" which is when the angle of attack in the blades is not at the proper angle and cannot attain lift thus causing the helo to inheritly plummet in altitude until it reaches the correct air density it needs to support itself. Second of all. they were speaking russan. i was able to tell after the third or fouth comment. Third of all. Helos do not nessicarily run on "Jet-A" All areonautical vehicles hav

Most of you guys are idiots.: I've seen this happen many times. It is true how many of you have explained it. When a helicopter operates at or above its average celing, it falls. but although, many manufactures create a buffer zone in which it is safe to fly at as a limit. when operating a rotary aircraft at or above celing, quick adjusments to heading, altitude and direction are fatal. the air is so thin, it is only capable at supporting the aircraft slightly. if they were to make a sudden movement (which

Now Then: Right for a start, who ever made the comment about it not being a helicopter? Erm i will think you find it is, And the blades arent supported by oxegyen on all Aircraft, be them fixed wing or rotary. They use a force called lift, which basically uses a higher Air Pressure above the Secondly H.A.L.O? This is a parachute technique, High Altitude Low Opening you moron. Lastly it looks like a tail rotor failure as the aircraft starts to countra rotate around its axis. Nothing to do with lack off air

You idiots.: It's not fake, if you search for "mountain top helicopter crash" on google you'll see a much longer (4mins) version of this video, the people are rescued from the helicopter but they're pretty badly injured, some with some serious burns.

@ImUglyDER x 2: A helicopter blade is sometimes referred to as a wing, as although it is a blade it still operates on SOME of the same principles as that of a fixed wing aircraft!!! To me it looks like the chopper has pitched forward in thin air beyond the lift capacity of the blades at that altitude and the crash resulted from the pilot trying in vain to keep away from the hard stuff below. Looks like a chopper pilot who knew that there was a camera on them and tried to nose down into the small recess below o

idiots: Thats not a helicopter, its a whirly bird. The whirly bird ran into the ground because there was not enough oxygen to support the blades. It had nothing to do with lack of air.

there is no way: the cahnces of these guys surviving are slim. they were in the helicopter when it burst into flames. even if they did make it out they would still have some major injuries. now that theyre out what happens? they die from their injuries. it would take hours to get another helicopter up there. the would have to hike down to a safer altitude so the helicopter could airlift them out with out the same crash happening.

acting school?: OK, So where did this "acting school" get the money to buy the really expensive helicopter to crash, when I can't even Google "Geronimo school of acting"? With that kind of money, you'd think they were all over the 'net. And how much money do you think they paid a commercial helicopter pilot to intentionally crash that thing? With THAT kind of money, how come all we got out of it was this shitty quality clip? Who would pay for such elaborate crappy pranks? Always follow the money. And aren

wow: u know wats the good thing about this? the cameraman is nice, not like all those noob people that buy a 100 dollar camera from wal mart and completely miss the climax of wat their filming (ie: a guy falls and cameraman puts camera on the other direction and u only catch a glimpse of the falling man)
