Remember, the blades near the center rotor aren't moving nearly as fast as the tips of the blades. However, that guy was stupid for not wearing any safety gear and lucky beyond belief

Its the same theory as with the WW1 fighter planes. Where the gun actually shoots through the propeller, however the bullet flies and the blades spin so fast that they never hit each other. If you eject the pilot fast enough he wont hit the blades. This wasn't fast enough.

@OperatorXTruely: Helicopter blades aren't very strong, they are very light weight and break pretty easy.

    • mangemang

      mangemang - 2 years ago

@OperatorXyeah, it's not like they are exposed to any centripetal force.. so you can basically produce them out of wet tissues..

some of you..: obviously need your vision checked, as you can see it is not a newer model helo nor is it anywhere near the past 2 decades. they do not have ejection seats in helos, you are safer to crash the helo and get out than to eject into props that are still spinning. yes what one guy was saying about trying to "restart" it is somewhat true, they do use the downward force to pull up on the colector to spin the blades and softly land. the guy in this video did not have an ejection seat, the tail end h

12 year olds!!!: shut up!!! I'm tired of reading Stupid comments from 12 year olds who google information and spew it out on these video comments. Unless you're a pilot, i dont' want to hear what technical information you have to say.

new copters do have eject: Becuase its almost impossible to restart them if they stall unless you have a lot of altitude to get the blades spinning again from the force of the air as it falls. But when they eject it releases the props so the pilot can safely be shot out

@LoudandLowCustomyour a dumbshit: i work on helos and there arent ANY that have ejection seats. the blades dont release. and the blades spinning has nothing to do with restarting. do u wake up and try to think of the most retarted things to say to look like an ass?
