Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill

The Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill was a devastating blow to the Gulf Coast, as well as the rest of the country. This informative video gives a detailed explanation of how the oil spill actually happened. It's really interesting how such a tiny piece could malfunction and cause a disaster of epic proportions.

Is it possible that the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill could have been prevented had a single inexpensive component been functional. This informative video explains how a device in the blow out preventer failed and allowed millions of gallons of oil to spill into the Gulf of Mexico. The particular device that did not deploy correctly is called a blind shear ram. There is no backup to the blind shear ram should it fail, hence the oil spill disaster in the Gulf. I know it's not boobs or nut shots, but sometimes it's a good idea to watch a video about something smart.

We dont need oil anymore, they have invented a car that runs on only water. Thing is, it only works on water from the Gulf of Mexico....

The original machine had a base plate of prefabulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in direct line with the pentametric fan.

i guess this video made by BP. BP never installed a shutdown valve people because that thing cost some millions to install and out of all the oil company in the gulf BP rigs are worst among them. Richiest oil company in the world cutting cost like that and Republicans apologizing to them. FOL

@spike7Thanks for pretending you know what you're talking about. It would not have cost millions.

I worked on the team that designed this unit. We smoked a bunch of weed at lunch the day we designed the back up switch thingy. I remember being really hungry and eating doritos but not much about the shut off valve. Oh well. It was really good weed.

I think this accident is a good example of how blindly and stupidly patriotic Americans are. An American rig, built by Americans, run by American employees, but the company is called 'BRITISH petroleum'? WELL WE KNOW WHO TO BLAME NOW DON'T WE, GODDAMN ENGLISH. Lolz @ you.

@espleyboyBut probably Japanese parts you idiot. You are one of those pathetic non-American losers that like to find any fault in America you can to make yourself look a little better even though you are below us.

      Billins828 - a year ago

@espleyboyUm BP is not an American company this isn't our fault. Don't try to make a point out of something that we had very little control over.

    • ripshaw03

      ripshaw03 - a year ago

@TheGreenBlurrYou are not correct. While there are 4 or 5 sets of rams, only one set are blind shear rams.
