These guys fill a large can with gasoline and then one of them reaches down to the bottom of the can to see how full it is and the fumes ignite shooting his head out of the can full of flames.

Chances are...: the robot didn't set it off, the insurgent who was watching over the site did remotely. Anyway, this is one of the best uses of military funding there is. That robot's destruction either saved the life of one soldier who would've defused the bomb manually, or an entire HMMWV full of soldiers who would've been hit by it.

no it was not a static electricity: if you look close at the guys right hand just before he ducks back down into the canister he is holding a lighter the fool lit it while his head was right above it. My guess is no one ever told him that its the fumes that catch on fire not realy the fuel.
