Watch the cannister: Take a close look under the car, you can see a cannister placed under the middle of the car. Watch carefully and you will see this is the origin of the explosion. Pyrotechnic riggers use liquid fuels to get those nice big fireballs - a small explosive under or in the fuel will cause this type of explosion. Cars don't just blow up, however they can catch fire. In addition...: ...why are there no numbers etc on the car? Note the cars driving around it are all numbered, why is this car not? Obviously it wasn't really part of the "demolition derby" which involved cars that were, strangely enough, NOT running into each other...fishy for sure.

...: I see that most of you are brainwashed by Hollywood movies, so let me tell you: Cars DON'T explode. They just don't (unless they're filled with explosives like that one). If a car makes something similar to an explosion (which is generally very very very hard to make if you don't to insert flaming stuff in the tank) This "explosion" will always leave a big part of the car in one piece. So, I hate to admit it, but this one is indeed staged.

@Riccars jacked up: that is where they put the explosives if you've ever seen a good behind the scenes car explosion you know how they do it. they take a cylinder and fill it with explosives and a remote charge

It was a setup: As pointed out, there was glass still in the car (a big no no in (demolition derbies) and you're not supposed to get out of your car. Also, that object below the car, it is a piston used in movies to throw a car into the air and flip it. In otherwords, it is a special effect for a stunt.
