Actually what would cause a cow to do this is after the calf is self weened off the utters swell with milk and cause the cow discomfort. People actually use this to their advantage in modern milk production, as when the cow becomes uncomfortable they will willingly walk into a pen where an automated machine will milk them. This one is just lucky enough to be able to do it herself.

Go Bessie Go! FYI, an under or malnourished cow's (or any mammal's) milk dries up. She wouldn't be bagged up like that unless she was taking in a lot of calories. Sure the hormones help, the ones someone mentioned that are in the feed she is eating. @ petey LOL @ your comment

Guys, that cow is not underfed. The hugemungous breed that most farms use for milk, can't remember what they're called, is naturally very tall, narrow, and bony. My father has only raised small and stocky Dexters, but I know enough honest farmers to know what a starving cow doesn't look like.

By the way there is a chance that they knew if they waited long enough they could get this video. I think in that case we could say this is not very humane; and that it certainly qualifies as animal cruelty. I wonder what the people who think cows are sacred would say.
She's just relieving a painful pressure because it's past her milk time or some baby cow moo'd a hungry sound... and made her milk let down early... and they obviously have her producing an overly abundant amount of milk. Dairy cows (and most nursing mothers) make as much milk as was expressed previously.
