I am not sure what type of gas they poured into this box but its got to be a lot heavier than the air and allows for a pretty cool trick.

the gas is called sf6, or sulfur hexaflouride. it's an inert gas that is heavier than air, does not support combustion, and does not allow electricity to arc through it. it's used in very sensitive high voltage radar equipment. also, IT WILL KILL YOU. it does this the same way water will drown you. it's heavier than air, so it will collect in your lungs and replace all the oxygen and you will drown. i know this because i work with it every day.

It can be done with with any of the tons of gases that are heavier than air. Just google gas densities.

how fake is this: the foil boat sunk before he poured the last cupfull of gas in

it could be: C2F6 or BCL3 well then again its got to have a low health hazzard obviously so possibbly an inert like N2O oh you know NF3 is a heavy bastard but then it would'nt really be safe.

its like the opposite of helium.: helium allows for sound waves to move quicker and faster then in oxygen, because it's lighter than oxygen; which creates the high pitch voice that we all did at birthday parties. but very few people actually know that there's another gas (like the one in the video) that is heavier than oxygen, and when inhaled, creates long low souch waves, and makes you sound like lucifer.

@TrentMcMyeah but: what is the point of this gas? to make subs sink?

It's not Argon OR sulfur hexafluoride..: they used Fart Gas.

it is sulfur hexafluoride: i saw a guy on jay leno do this. cringer53 is also correct when he says it makes you sound demonice. try to find the jay leno video about this. the guy explains what it is and why it does what it does

  • Cringer53

    Cringer53 - 2 years ago

Not argon at all: its sulfur hexafluoride...and thats not the only cool thing it does, it has the opposite effect helium. makes you voice sound kinda demonic.

  • imfree

    imfree - 2 years ago

most likely that it was argon gas: that stuff is pretty dense compared to oxygen and other gases. and could probably hold tin foil up.

Not Strings or a Magnet: It's a gas called sulfur hexafluoride, it's a colorless, non-toxic and very dense gas that is heavier than water.

    • NoControl1678

      NoControl1678 - 2 years ago

@brmifo13close: it is about 6 times denser than air. if it were heavier than water why would they need the cover? would you cover a tank you were filling with water so the water doesn't float away?
