I have things like this before but this one is rather easy to draw and plays a pretty cool trick on the eyes.

why do some people continue to insist that this is real..I HAVE tried this and it DOESN'T work. For those who are lazy and don't want to actually do it, in the black and while sketch that he shows, take a peice of tape, string, wire, etc... And put it up to your monitor and measure that width of the left table top....Now compare the length of the tape,wire,string that you measured on the right table. Doesn't come close!

Cinsidering the aspect that each table is in, the actual shape of the tabletops appear to be different but are actually equal. It's the aspect that the table legs create that makes this illusion work. The second time he proves them the same, there is no cut or edit in the video.

interestingly, the black and white "here's how it's drawn" pic is horrbly, horribly wrong. nowhere close to the same dimensions. yet the colored version is pretty close screenshot + photoshop trace to see.

Actually, this is a film trick. The vertical/horizontal proportions of the clip are intentionally messed with. So, although the tables ARE the same, after f-ing up the clip by shrinking it horizontally, you get this crap. LAME!

its an illusion because of the way the legs are drawn. The shorter legs on the one on the left give the illusion of distance, so your mind thinks its longer. The one on the right has different length legs up front, making it look shorter and wider.
