Any guesses on how fast that dry pine you have can go up in huge flames from a small spark? Faster than you think.

They use this video in fire safety training. Ive seen it a few times now. notice how things get so hot that the furniture starts combusting before the flames get to it

So, why isn't anyone trying to put it out? Well, hopefully the flames took out some black people.

@patrickswayzeDumb nut if there's a camera filming a flaming christmas tree in a house with a nice timer it absolutely means that this is an experiment. If i would've left my camera running in my flaming house, took it back before the heat damaged it, ripped the tape, made a nice clip showing how fast my house took on fire, posted it on break.com to get a fuckin 400$ i hope someone would shot me in the head and rape my corpse

Trees suck. Get a Festivus Pole instead. Good for strippers too.

no way a coffee table would ignite that quickly. The tree yes, the TV and table no. They must have had liquid on them.

    • SimmerD09

      SimmerD09 - 3 years ago

@holymackeral72They light fire because of radiation heat. 90% of the stuff in that room is some sort of plastic which is basically a solid fuel. When the heat from the tree gets as hot as it does the plastics melt and light instantly.

@holymackeral72Yes you are right the wooden table and wood laminate objects have some coating on them which makes them more flammable. It's called varnish.

I have seen dry trees go up this fast. What looks suspicious is the burning fluid on the TV and coffee table.

I just graduated from Lambton Fire College and this is an experiment they ran at a university. It’s not a real house but a small fire room in the middle of a huge facility. The speed of the film is actual time and yes the way they lit the tree was unnatural using an ignition source at the bottom of the tree to simulate sparks from a bulb or wire. If you were able to hear the sound you would also hear the smoke alarm going off and then near the end the smoke alarm dies because of the intense heat melting the

@SimmerD09alarm. This is an actual video everyone and should be in the back of anyone’s mind this holiday season, these fires starting from xmas trees are one of the biggest cause of fire and death during the holiday season.

@SimmerD09Im not saying we made this video.. this video is really old I have no idea how long its been around for, but its used for fire awarness all over the world.

@SimmerD09Did they mention what the hell the air source was for that? The intense swirling of the flames make it look like they were jacking in air. Or perhaps the "ceiling" was far flimsier that a real house, burned through early and supplied the air it needed to finish of the room in less than a minute.

Its been sped up. They don't burn THAT fast but they do go up pretty quick. Pine logs don't burn worth sh*t but dry pine needles burn too quick to be a good fire starter unless you have a lot of them. But the center out of a pine tree where the sap has dried into the wood, we call it fat pine, makes an awsome fire starter. Its easy to light and it burns really hot for a long time.

    • GoGoAGoGo

      GoGoAGoGo - 3 years ago

@Vash07actually they do go up that fast. i know from first hand experience. if theyre dry enough they basically explode if you set a lighter to them.

Pine tree resin (sap) is a form of kerosene. Trust me any northern outdoor enthusiast knows that there's no wood on the planet that burns hotter or faster than Pine. That resin is so combustible that it’s responsible for primitive mans first torches too.
