The actual infraction which the lighting director committed was NOT walking into the set, rather, he walked a few steps in the crew background, unfortunately being in the lne of sight of Bale. Bale was distracted and aborted the scene. Not at all professional.

What's wierd is that Christian Bale did this movie- and went off on this egomaniacal tirade- back in 2000, before he was even remotely well known. It's surprising that he would be so cocky but I guess that's how the movie industry is if you have a lead role in something major.

@raschwebel most people have no idea what a true/real actor goes through inside his/her own mind.. so don't make comments based on your stupid notions or ideas.. you can't comment on a thing you have no idea of... Christian goes into character and that takes energy and skill and talent so it's not cockyness.... take for example when you go to work Rashwebel as a gas station attendan which you are... imagine yourself pumping gas and someone comes up and takes the nozzle out of the gas-hole while you're checking the oil

@HOGFANDAN This guy spends several minutes chewing out a person who wasted 10 seconds of his time. Get a life, they shoot several hours of footage to get 30 usable seconds. If a cop pulled this guy over and took 15 minutes to write him a ticket, he'd probably cut loose bad enough to get arrested--which I'd love to see. Get over yourself, Christian, you're every bit the jerkoff that we expect from self-important Hollywood types.

seriously who the hell walks into a scene? if you've worked in the industry you'd know you can completely destroy a day of work by walking into a damn scene. would be like trying to perform surgery and having a dancing and screaming in the ER. screwing up the scene also screws it up for everyone who spent hours setting everything up, and wastes ridiculously expensive film.

@techniq So it's necessary to go on a screaming tirade over it? If the guy is that unprofessional and out-of-line, dock him a day's pay or fire him and call it good. The rest of the people on the set don't need to self-important sermon.

@techniq They weren't filming a scene, they were doing rehearsals. Which is why the director admits he didn't see the DP walk into the shot because he was preoccupied with something else, and why the DP was still checking lights to make sure everything was alright before the real shooting began.
@techniq even if it was a rehearsal, you don't do that kind of crap during a scene. and apparently he is known for "tweaking" lights, which would mean people have told him over and over to stop pulling that bull, and yet he just ignores them. might as well just spit in someones face after they've asked you to stop. no one else had the balls to do anything about it, even after everyone, including bale complained, so how else are you going to get through to a ahole who won't listen other than to scare them shtless.
