    @SgtSARSchicks are actually sorted within the 'factory' via many conveyor belts that dumps them here and there too before finally ending up into stacked crates that you see the worker is offloading from into the belt. What you don't see is what happens before the chicks are machine loaded into the crates at the 'factory'. There is conveyor belt that channels the male chicks and dumps them into a big dumpster to be disposed of like trash.

    @jimbogthey have to shoot them off so that they wont pile up in one heap which will cause even more injuries. they shoot them at a certain height so that they can land on their feet.

    @Coolio911911well: i'm assuming if it was lower to the ground, the chics would bunch up and make a big pile near the launcher. this may in a sense clog the launcher...lol. I dunno i think it has to do with attempting to spread them out.

  Maybe it would still be effective lower to the ground: I dont have anything against chicken shooters, but shouldnt they at least lower the thing down a bit. They see to be flying pretty high for baby chicks. If height is their game they should try the have dozen chick potato gun shooter. You can get 100 yards outta them little chickys. WWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee
