  The most recent article I could find was from two years back. It states then that Wang Yan made a near full recovery after being paralyzed/breaking her second and third vertebrae. She was then expected to need 12 months before a full recovery, even though she was given no hope to ever walk again.

  15-year old Wang fell into a coma at the national gymnastics championships in Shanghai June 10 after landing head-first on the mat in her dismount from the uneven bars with her second and third vertebrae fractured. Sources after the accident said that the gymnast would likely be paralyzed for life, but after surgery and treatment, her condition improved considerably. (Taken from a newsarticle)
