@WcHDICEMany countries it is not advisable to cross at your choosing. Hell, in China my saying was "Red no crossing sign" = death "Green walking sign" = high chance of death if you do not look carefully. Thailand is not that bad but pretty bad still. Western people get pancaked there all the time.

@WcHDICEBeen to Thailand, China and Brazil and they are all the same as the U.K. Pedestrian at the crossing and cars have to stop IF a foot has been placed within a safe distance of the road. But India....Nutters!...total disregard for safety!
