I'm not a doctor but the rule of thumb is if the knee hyper-extends so far that you kick your own nuts you will probably not be returning to the game.

@ded1645This match was played in my country, Belgium, so I've seen the fault from every possible angle. The player in red clearly holds his foot higher than the ball, thus having the intent to hurt the other player. Furthermore, teammembers of the red player stated after the match that he still had something to settle witth the player in purple for a tackle in a previous match. The red player's punishment is an 11 match suspension, which, is nothing compared to the injury recovery period of about 1 year for t

Just in case anyone wonders, this happened in Belgium yesterday evening. The red idiot is facing weeks/months of suspension, the blue idiot had his leg snapped in half (open wound) and his career is most probably finished.
