At a Blue Angels show in Washington State one of the birds does a really low fly. So low you can see the jets pick up water off the lake.

You're all fking wrong.: It's not the sound barrier...it's not friction from the air as the plane approaches the sound barrier. Technically called a Prandtl-Glauert condensation cloud, it's a result of a cone-shaped pocket of low air pressure that the plane makes. You'll see the same effect at the wings when the plane is making a sharp bank on a humid day.

What number Angel was this flying so low?

Just wanted to clear something up for all the retards: I've lived in Seattle damn near my whole life, and have had many a drunken time watching the blue angels from a boat on lake washington. These planes are not breaking the sound barrier. This is not an argument, this is a fact. If you think they are, then you're an ignorant retard who knows absolutley nothing -- seriously. Haven't you ever heard of a sonic boom, you know the sound so loud it can break windows and injure peoples ears? Do you hear a so

um i don't think it was the condensation, but you will probably never read these comments again so i won't get into it with you, but what the blue angels were flying in is what us washintonians like to call seafair, which takes place right on good ol lake washington

Holy crap, I didn't know there were so many rocket scientists on Break! That was really neat-o!!!!!!!!!!! There's my scientific explanation for what I just watched.

If they were that close to an object the size of a fighter plane breaking the sound barrier the shockwave would be deafening (literally-you would see people rolling around holding thier ears in pain.). what you are seeing is condensation in the low pressure wake of the aircraft. It happens all the time in humid environments, you'll even see on the wings of passanger aircraft when banking and whatnot. There ya go. Look it up.

thats the Sonic Boom blast not water

    • rfmbmx

      rfmbmx - 3 years ago

@RPMcmurphyYes it is water, a sonic boom causes water molecules to condense around the plane dumb fvck stop making non-educated guesses.

wow.. all the brains are ON.. best give my 2 cents..: You can actually hear the planes all the time.. Just that it’s a mono-recording and you have absolutely no idea where it’s coming from.. The fact that the sound “profile” the plane is putting out forwards compared to that backwards makes it appear as if you did not hear it. In fact all that happens is that the sound changes character when the plane passes (and only partially due to the Doppler effect..). It is NOT breaking the sound barrier..

Wow....: Didn't know break had such a strong scientific community. Personally.. couldn't give a rats ass if it did break the sound barrier.. I thought it was pretty cool regardless... Now go drink some beer and make nice.

MACH: He did not break the sound barrier, believe me I have been there and it isn't nice. The Angels are experts at pushing right up to supersonic but not quite going all the way. This make a big pressure wave that kicks up stuff [ water] makes condensation and looks neater than shit. With out the broken glass and eardrums.

I would say: The water couldn't get sucked into the engines fast enough so it lagged behind. He is going fast but I doubt he is breaking the sound barrier at that very low altitude.

    • hendrix67

      hendrix67 - 3 years ago

@GIJosh2687yes he is: u can tell because u can't hear the plane untill it passes the camera because the jet is going faster than the sound it is making.

    • jeckulz

      jeckulz - 3 years ago

@GIJosh2687Hendrix you are really dumb, I'll explain why: If youre watching a sport, lets say NFL football, and youre in the nosebleed seats, you'll see the kick off, but the sound wont be untill a split-second later. Is the kick breaking the sound barrier? Nope, its just that light (what you see) travels faster than sound (what you hear) ie speed of light is way faster than the speed of sound. Just because you notice sound delay DOES NOT mean it breaks the sound barrier. Now go finish your education

@motoxyz I agree with motoxyz, if the sound barrier was broken, it would have been A LOT louder prob would have broken something on that camera being so close

that's not water: that's not water they're picking up, it's them breaking the sound barrier

    • brainfreeze215

      brainfreeze215 - 4 years ago

@Darkyoshi1you are correct sir: though I never really understood why it's actually visible.

    • dbquidam

      dbquidam - 4 years ago

@Darkyoshi1Actually that is not correct: If it were to actually break the sound barrier at that range everyone in the vicinity would be deaf now. The bubble appears due to friction that the jet creates as it APPROACHES the sound barrier, it is visible because it compresses the water in the air.

    • ocbb

      ocbb - 3 years ago

@Darkyoshi1agree with newdowntown and sputo: 1. its a kick ass video cause its the FUCKIN BLUE ANGELS 2. idk if yall have ever grown up in the late 80's early 90's but at one point it was legal to fly over residential areas and sometimes if you lived near an air force base, you would have jets fly overhead that were breakin the sound barrier creating sonic booms which inevitibly led to blown out windows in houses and sometimes cares... google it guys, prove me wrong...

    • jeckulz

      jeckulz - 3 years ago

@Darkyoshi1Yes it is water: No they arent breaking the sound barrier. Did, or do you go to a special school with the other special boys and girls?
