My knowledge about drifting: Everyone so far has been right with what they have said about drifting, but not completely. Yes, it is a power slide. However, a power slide is a maneuver that stops the car. Drifting is a combination of pulling your car wide in a turn, sharply over correcting, and pulling your emergency brake at the same time, then releasing it. This kicks the car sideways like you see. While at the same time, you downshift, and pop the clutch. This allows the wheels to spin, like someon

@OhDearGodyou people know nothing, even about powerslide.: The power slide you kids are talking about are wrong but i see the point, the power slide is when you down shift with hand break slide side ways (perpendicular) to the road your going on so you have enough speed to slide into that new direction you need to go into. A real power slide is when you go really fast into a direction then down shit and hand break to slide and start going into the opposite way as quick as possible.

@OhDearGodfor real drifting: it's not powersliding.. power sliding is just that.. powersliding.. it isn't "street" for drifting it's just a major misconception drifting is only using the brakes and is usually done by going fast into a corner, braking hard, shifting down, turning hard, countering it, punching the gas and going.
