trying to fly one of these is like trying to fly a diamond-shaped kite with no tail. that plane was GONE as soon as the wing clipped the ground

ok.. to all the douchebags tonguelashing the US AIRFORCE (was the US ARMy AIRCORPS til 1947 when they were established as the AIR FORCE, you guys really know how to show your stupidity for those who dont bother to read publications like say... popular mechanics and popular science, this was r error, when the plane was being prepped, one of the sensors was damp due toe the tropical environment of Guam, the service technician, instead of attempting to examine said sensor, reset the planes controls to accept

    • Dliteful

      Dliteful - a year ago

@JerryHodgsonSo one douchebag screwed up and the douchebag pilot couldn't figure out something was horribly wrong? Yeh, I thought so.

    • luigio94

      luigio94 - a year ago

@JerryHodgsonDliteful, he did figure out something was wrong. Ergo, he ejected. By "reset the planes controls", Jerry meant "the technician reset everything so that all the sensors looked correct, even though they weren't. So the pilot saw incorrect information, which is why the crash occurred.

    • NYTimD

      NYTimD - 3 years ago

@AndyUSAsuxThe US military: can't do anything right. I guess that's what happens when your forces are made up of the worst and the dumbest. 95% of your military would be in jail if they weren't "fighting" this imaginary war for Hitle....I mean Bush. The US is only slightly better than a third world country....and even that is debatable.

@AndyUSAsuxphanatose: glad to see the philosophy of discipline and fighting "for peace" is still instilled in Military men in the US. I'm sure you can handle a gun in the desert and i'm sure you were really good at killing a bunch of iraqi extremists in a war which has cost your country its economy, and has led it into recession. well done.

The real story??: Forgotten Lesson Caused B-2 Crash, 6 Jun 2008 David A. Fulghum/Aerospace Daily & Defense Report Crews and maintainers never formally recorded information on a vulnerability involving the B-2's air pressure sensors and the simple workaround crews came up with to mitigate it, a crucial omission that set the stage for a Feb. 23 B-2 crash in Guam. Aircrews and maintenance teams learned about the sensors' susceptibility to moisture during a Guam deployment in 2006. They also discovered

    • Snapleaple

      Snapleaple - 3 years ago

@Tonedog1980Yeah. He stalled it at takeoff I think.: The sad thing is, that even after the left wingtip hit the ground, it didn't even hit that hard. It skimmed on the ground for a bit. No catostrophic damage. If he had pulled the stick to the right he might have been able to save the plane. Very small MIGHT, may I add.

    • GTcruiserman

      GTcruiserman - 3 years ago

@Tonedog1980No....: there was s ensor in the wing that was contaminated by water and gave the flight computers bad info and caused the plane to pitch up too fast and get too slow. Pilots don't fly these things, they are too inherently unstable and must be flown by computers.

    • garagedoor199

      garagedoor199 - 3 years ago

@Tonedog1980The planes wasn't flown by computers it was stabilized by computers. When the sensor went bad it was receiving incorrect flight data that's what caused the crash.

@GoreBastardI think: that by law or new something or other they have to record all takeoffs and landings, so it might be an automated camera or something.

Hey, NYTimD: I'd challange you to a gunfight, but with a dumbass like you it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Oh, and keep in mind, moron, no matter how high the U.S. unemployment rate is right now. It is STILL lower than the rate nearly every other country on the planet.

    • NYTimD

      NYTimD - 3 years ago

@bogtrotter52Oh bogtrotter, you and your: pointless, idle, American violence. Unemployment is only one of many problems in your country. Try poor education, unaffordable healthcare, high crimerate and incidents of racial unrest....you're better than many countries, no doubt, but not amongst the best in any categories of value.

@bogtrotter52I'v been to Canada: It was not much different from America. Why would you waste your time putting down our country? Take a look at your culture and see how much of it comes from ours.

    • weezerzeke

      weezerzeke - 3 years ago

@bogtrotter52NYTimD:: Don't listen to our media too much...They'll make this country sound like it is going to crap because it works for them and their interests.

    • NYTimD

      NYTimD - 3 years ago

@bogtrotter52Actually where it counts: the U-S is very different from Canada. Canada's education system is similar to the British education system which far surpasses America. Healthcare is affordable for all Canadians, violent crime is no where near as big an issue in Canada as in the U-S. They may be similar as far as fast food joints and t-v, but that's where it ends.

    • Snapleaple

      Snapleaple - 3 years ago

@bogtrotter52NyTimd...: 1. I have gone to canada, oh you guys don't have "Racial unrest" cause it is all white. I didn't see a mexican or a black person there at all! There is no diversity in Canada. 2. The public education sucks depending on where you go in America. 3.Crimerate isn't as high as the news paints it to be. 4.we have like a, what, 94.5% employment rate? 5.Healthcare does suck though.

    • NYTimD

      NYTimD - 3 years ago

@bogtrotter52Sorry Snapleaple....: ....but you got a couple of things wrong. First point....over 27% of Canadians are of a visible minority. Just over 20% of Americans can say the same thing. Your third point....and I've worked in law enforcement in both countries....crimerate in the U-S is actually higher than reported by the news, since many crimes in America go unreported. Those are facts....

@bogtrotter52Yeah, the US education: system is brilliant. You're obviously products of it spOOnz and DirtyPete since you make such idiotic statements. And yes, there are gay Canadians, but unlike the U-S, in Canada they aren't regarded as second class citizens. Good thing you're on the frontlines....in the military? Now I know you're dumb.
