@Burnsie Live*: Live*
H0bbez - 2 years ago
its still a homerun: his body has to hit fair territory inside the fence
Chudso - 2 years ago
@H0bbez no its not: as long as he catches it and he's in the air, its an out.
mrbriteside5 - 2 years ago
@H0bbez no, hobbez is right: at least part of him has to touh inside fair territory.
sublime8022 - 2 years ago
@H0bbez since when?: what are you talking about? balls are caught in foul territory all the time.. and David wright caught one in the stands last year in foul grounds..
KaHetrick - 2 years ago
@H0bbez Wrong you are. Read this. http://en.allexperts.com/q/Sof If you don't then the rule is: In softball (what is played in the video) if the ball is caught in mid-air without the catching player have touched out of play field (stands or outside the fence) the batter is out, if there are less than 2 outs the remaining base runners are awarded a base advance, but if the player touches the out of play area and then catches the ball it is considered a home run and recieves all awards of a home run.

It is an out: This happened about 10 years ago in Boston.Against the Mariners. Jay Buhner was in right field when he caught the ball went over and came back over with his glove in the air and it was ruled an out,it was crazy-good
It is an out: "As long as the fielder is not touching the ground in dead ball territory when he catches the ball, it is a legal catch if he holds onto the ball and meets the definition of a catch. If the catch is not the third out and the fielder falls down in dead ball territory, all runners are awarded one base. If the fielder remains on his feet in dead ball territory after the catch, the ball is alive and he may make a play." Rules: 2.00 CATCH, 6.05(a), 7.04(c) O

hit the weights: batter only has WTP warning track power
TooCrooked - 2 years ago
unfortunately,: another video shot from a different angle shows the outfielder dropping the ball momentarily. and even more unfortunate is that he died 2 minutes after sitting down from a brain aneurysm.

If the ball: goes over the fence and is caught...still a homerun.Who ever called this an out..is a MORON!!!
captainzerocool - 2 years ago
@TattooRob No: It isn't.
LetsGetCrunk - 2 years ago
@TattooRob you're: an idiot.
ekdurk - 2 years ago
@TattooRob hes right: but your still a moron for thinking this is a real game
Smiley27 - 2 years ago
@TattooRob TattooRob is..: absolutely correct. If the ball and player go over the fence, on a home run, then it's a homerun, not an out
BOZAVELLI - 2 years ago
@TattooRob It's just like football: If you catch it while your feet are in fair play..it's an OUT! Once you leave your feet and fly over the fence it's a homerun! Damn, some of you are thick headed.
BRog - 2 years ago
Hitting a round ball: moving 90 mph with a round bat that is a little of 2" thick, baseball is definetly one the toughest sports in the world. Baseball and hockey arguably require the most skill per sport. Kicking a large ball with your feet while running? Gimme a break. Soccer sucks ass.
DavidLeeRoth0712 - 2 years ago
@BRog I think....: you misremembered. You actually LOVE soccer. Baseball's a sport that fat guys play
@BRog how does: he steal a homerun while diving OVER the wall? Is that a soccer move too?
fbmbmx1987 - 2 years ago
@BRog What,: did your girlfriend get fucked by a soccer player or something?
ProOJ - 2 years ago
@BRog Baseball...: sucks, everyone can become a professional in baseball, no skills needed just hit the ball and run....what is the big deal, baseball surely is an American sport mostly because it is a sport for fat people!!
itsjustme1234 - 2 years ago
@BRog Yeh: Soccer does suck ass. Why would i wanna watch kick to kick for 3 hours and see the occasional goal. soccer is LAME!!! TOTALLY LAME!!!!
eyrikur - 2 years ago
@BRog Every sport: requires a huge amount of skill. And you could easily prove this for us by going and trying out for any sport that you think isn't as labour intensive.
@BRog It's: SOFTBALL DAMIT!!! All you need as far as skill is beer drinking skill!

NickySilverado - 2 years ago
HE'S OUT!: I was going to post and say that it was a homerun but the main rule that supports this being an OUT is that he caught the ball and prevented it from hitting the ground. I have not seen any rule that says that he has to bring the ball back into the field of play or that his feet have to be in any certain location. A catch is a catch no matter what locatiion it occurs.
DaRudder - 2 years ago
@NickySilverado .: Actually, you are wrong on this one. You have to maintain some kind of position on the playing field. This is why you don't see people running into the stands to catch balls. The best he could have done was hit his feet on the fence and that would have counted as an out.
EndoSoldier - 2 years ago
@NickySilverado actually: hes right because if you catch a foul ball its an out, and it can be behind the catcher....way off to the side etc...
IamBender - 2 years ago
@NickySilverado Endo and Nicky: are right. A foul tip isn't in the "playing field" but if it is caught before landing in foul territory it is still considered an out. It's not where the ball is caught that determines the out, it's where the ball lands that determines the validity of the hit. Sucka!

cont'd: inside the dugout or in any other out-of-play area. Ball is in play, unless the fielder, after making a legal catch, falls into a dugout or other out-of-play area, in which case the ball is dead. Status of runners shall be as described in Rule 7.04(c) Comment. I would say this is an out since his feet were over the playing surface. However, assuming there were less than 2 outs rule 7c says that each baserunner moves up one base.
Rule:: 6.05 A batter is out when— (a) His fair or foul fly ball (other than a foul tip) is legally caught by a fielder; Rule 6.05(a) Comment: A fielder may reach into, but not step into, a dugout to make a catch, and if he holds the ball, the catch shall be allowed. A fielder, in order to make a catch on a foul ball nearing a dugout or other out-of-play area (such as the stands), must have one or both feet on or over the playing surface (including the lip of the dugout) and neither foot on the ground ins
