She knelt down on the grass so was lower to ground this resulted in the Lion seeing her as prey. The handler should of known better. 16 Months old it was probably only playing with it's food anyway.

@IanWill She was asking how old the lion was and while he was answering 16 months the lion jumped up and attacked her. I'm sure he drew blood with his claws. I agree with kmoutray below, we can clearly see the lion had it in for this lady. The owner should have noticed this and held on to its collar better and asked the lady to leave.

Everyone failed to notice the lion fixated on the woman and then she put herself in a subordinate position to the lion. In addition, the "trainer" rewarded the lion by petting him, after the attack (re-enforcing this behavior).
